In Loving Memory - Nenek*

My granny, Agnes Jindot has passed away 11 years ago on 28th Mei 1998 due to lung and heart failure. I just remember it today after I called my mom. My mother is going to invite the neighborhood for a rosary prayer at home this Saturday. This year I will not be around, so my lil brother and Adam's family since we are not going back for this Harvest Festival which fall on the 1st June. Nenek (name that I called her or Sumuk by other cousins) was born in 1916 to a Bidayuh couple that lives in rural area call Krokong, Bau. She was then had a arranged marriage with her then husband (my grandfather) a chinese miner when she was only 14 years old. (Bau is a gold mining town in the Kuching Division). She then had 8 daughters and a son. After a dreadful divorce, she went back to the Krokong and start a new life in a piece of land deep in the jungle. My mother was only 4 years old and nenek was pregnant with her younger daughter when the divorce took place. She do farming, paddy planti...

Remember this movie, starring by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. Here is some of the scenes. Sandy : I'm going back to Australia; I might never see you again. [ Danny starts kissing her ] Sandy : Danny, don't spoil it! Danny : It's not spoiling it, Sandy, it's only making it better. Sandy : Danny... is this the end? Danny : Of course not; it's only the beginning. * * * * Rizzo : [ breaks out a bottle of wine ] How about a little Sneaky Pete to get the party going? [ the girls all cheer ] Jan : Anyone want a Twinkie? Marty : Twinkies and wine? Oh, that's real class, Jan. Jan : It says right here it's a dessert wine. Should the term "Dayak:" be drop?

I read an article from Borneo Post via online. As the new generation of Dayak people or Bidayuh to be exact, I think the term of Dayak should not be drop as the whole world recognize Dayak as a big ethinc group of bumi in Borneo Island. This term that has been used since the colonial government (Brooke era) refers to ethnicity and it doesnt reflects the Dayak as uncivilised, uncouth and "low class". But that is what happen hundred of years ago. Now, I am still proud to call myself as a Dayak because I believe that the Dayak has been and progressing well to be one of the most dynamic ethnic in Borneo. We the Dayak achieves lots of achivement in economic, academ ic, social sciences and political as well. We managed to change our life from poor family to a well being family with the help of education. Happy Mother's Day Mak*

My mother is the greatest of all. She has been there for me, give me her full support and almost everything that a daughter need from her mother. Except for on ..she doesn't like to talk much like I do. She is the kind that use her silence to show her anger or dislike on something that we did in front of her. She got this eyes that can make us, her children afraid of her every time we did something wrong. She never raise up her hand to hit or spank us until now. Her only reason is that, she had us in her belly for 9 months and then raised us alone (my father then was a police force and seldom stay at home because of his duty). Plus, she loves us more than anything in this world. We are her children. Well, I am fully understand her feeling even thou I am not a mother yet..hahaha.... She is the one who accompany me every time I went for my treatment. She is the one who took care of me every time i was admitted to the hospital. She is the one who taught me how to do business of my ow...
